close to the RSPB reserve at Troup Head which boasts the largest mainland colony of nesting gannets in Scotland amongst many
other seabirds including the puffin. Dolphins can be
seen regularly swimming in the bay; a truly amazing sight. In
spring the hillsides are covered with primroses and in early summer wild orchids grow on the grassy slopes amongst a myriad
